Passport Instructions

Beginning January 8, 2007, a passport is required for air and sea travel from the United States to Canada. Land travel (car, train) does not require a passport.

A simple and streamlined process will have your passport in your hands in no time.

If you are obtaining a U.S. passport for the first time or if your previous passport was lost, stolen, or damaged, has expired and was issued more than 15 years ago or when you were under age 16, or if your name has changed, apply in person:

  1. Provide Application for Passport. Application can be downloaded from the Web (see web site below) or obtained from any passport agency.
  2. Present Proof of U.S. Citizenship (birth certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, etc.)
  3. Present Proof of Identity (Driver’s license, government or military ID, etc.).
  4. Provide Two Passport Photos ( 2” x 2”, taken within the last six months. Photo service locations include Kinko’s, Sears, and many AAA offices.).
  5. Pay
the Applicable Fee (most payment methods accepted at over 7,000 passport   acceptance agencies.) The current fee is $82 for minors and $97 for adults.

You may apply in person at over 7,000 public places that accept passport applications. To locate a site near you, visit http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/

You may simply renew an expired passport by mail if you already have an undamaged passport issued within the past 15 years, were at least age 16 when it was issued and still have the same name as in your original passport (or can legally document your name change).

  1. Complete Application For Passport By Mail
  2. Attach to it: Your most recent passport, two identical passport photographs, and applicable fee. (If your name has changed, provide legal documentation).
  3. Mail in a padded envelope to: National Passport Center, P.O. Box 371971 Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7971

For more detailed information, fees, and to download the necessary applications and forms, visit http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/get/get_840.html.

* All minors including infants must have their own passport and need to apply in person.

We look forward to seeing you in Vancouver! It’s sure to be an experience you won’t forget. More information, including seminar program, social events, registration and hotel information will be available in January.
