President

SueLynn Morgan, RPR
Lawton, OK

At the 2009 NCRA Convention and Exposition in Washington, D.C., the current President-Elect, SueLynn Morgan, RPR, will automatically be promoted to NCRA President.

SueLynn Morgan, RPR, has been a member of both NCRA and the Oklahoma Court Reporters Association since 1987. She earned her bachelor of science degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University in 1982.

SueLynn’s current position, which she has held for 15 years, is as an official court reporter, handling large civil, felony, and domestic dockets. She has also worked as a freelance reporter.

SueLynn served as NCRA’s Secretary-Treasurer for three terms. She chaired the Ninth and Tenth Court Technology Conference Task Force, the Backup Audio Media Task Force, the 2003 and 2004 Annual Convention Committee and the Reinvention Convention Committee.  She also serves as the Board liaison to the Online Forum Committee and has previously served on a variety of NCRA committees, including the Membership Telemarketing and the Official Reporter Community of Interest Committees.

SueLynn is a past president of the Oklahoma Court Reporters Association. She has put her legislative expertise to good use on the state level, advocating for such issues as anticontracting legislation, mandatory CEUs, longevity pay for official reporters, pay raises for those reporters who earn the RDR and CRR, funding for new official reporter positions, and obtaining federal funds for realtime writer training. SueLynn has also written articles for the JCR.

 


President-Elect - Contested Election

Judith Lehman, RMR, CRI
Shelbyville, Ill.



Judy Lehman, RMR, has served on NCRA’s Board of Directors for two years. She is a member of NCRA, the Illinois Court Reporters Association, the United States Court Reporters Association, and the Society for the Technological Advancement of Reporters.
Judy has been an official reporter for the Illinois Judicial Branch since 1977. In addition, she is a court reporting instructor for Sparks College, where she also is on the college’s board of directors, and a court technology consultant for RealLegal, LLC. Judy has a Master of Business Administration from Eastern Illinois University.

Judy’s service to NCRA has included being a member of the Technology Evaluation Committee, Court Technology Conference 10 Task Force, and the Electronic Recording Task Force. She is also a chief examiner for NCRA.

In her home state, Judith is the chairman of the ILCRA and Official Court Reporter Committee and Certified Shorthand Reporter Board of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Melanie L. Humphrey-Sonntag, RDR, CRR
Wheaton, Ill.



Melanie L. Humphrey-Sonntag, RDR, CRR, is NCRA's Vice President and served three years as a Director.

Melanie is involved in the 10x10 campaign, promoting additional RPR testing, and working side by side with members and students to improve their skills and career satisfaction. She has given seminars to students, reporters, vendors, and the public since 1993. She became a Fellow of the Academy of Professional Reporters in 2001.

Melanie has served NCRA and the reporting profession in various board and committee capacities for more than 25 years, including the Nominating and Finance committees, and the Council of the Academy of Professional Reporters, as well as an NCRF Trustee. She is a realtime reporter and equity owner of Sonntag Reporting Service, Ltd., in suburban Chicago. Melanie previously worked as an official, freelancer, and firm owner in Wyoming and Colorado and served as president of both state associations.

Vice President

R. Douglas Friend, RMR, CRR
Portland, Ore.



Doug Friend, RMR, CRR, has served as NCRA’s Secretary-Treasurer for two terms following four years as an NCRA director. He became a member of NCRA in 1975 . He is currently certified as a reporter in Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.

Doug is a shareholder in Beovich, Walter & Friend Inc., in Portland, Ore., where he holds the official titles of vice president and secretary-treasurer. He has been employed by the firm since 1980 and became a shareholder in 1990.

Doug has served on many NCRA committees and task forces, including the Firm Owners Community of Interest Committee, and the Part-Time Professionals, Board Ethics, Citizens for Impartial Justice Evaluation, Emerging Leaders, and Gift Giving task forces.

As a member of the Oregon Court Reporters Association, he served twice as a director and as president-elect and president. Doug was the state’s public relations chairman and has been active on OCRA’s legislative committee. Doug currently serves on the Advisory Committee for the College of Legal Arts in Portland.

Doug has been involved with the National Committee of State Associations, where he served as a delegate and an alternate, and served two terms as a Resolutions Committee member. He has also participated in several NCRF fundraising events.


Secretary-Treasurer

Jason T. Meadors, RPR, CRR
Fort Collins, Colo.



Jason Meadors, RPR, CRR, is president of Meadors Court Reporting, LLC, in Fort Collins, Colo., and president of ReporterWorks, which publishes a management software system for reporters. Jason previously served on NCRA’s Board of Directors from 2005-2008.

A member of NCRA and the Colorado Court Reporters Association since 1981, Jason has worked as a courts-martial reporter in the Marines, and an official and freelance court reporter, before opening his own firm.

For NCRA, Jason has served as liaison to the Citizens for Impartial Justice and as a member of the Item Writing Committee, the Judicial Liaison Evaluation Committee, and NCSA Affiliates Task Force. He has also served for three years on NCRA’s Finance Committee.

Jason has served in a variety of leadership roles, including president, for both CCRA and the StenoCAT Users Network.

Jason has presented seminars at many reporting conventions and has written for Colorado’s Ramblings and the JCR.


Three-Year-Term Directors

Sarah E. Nageotte, RMR, CRR, CBC
Jefferson, Ohio

Sarah E. Nageotte, RMR, CRR, CBC, currently works as an official court reporter for Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court in Jefferson, Ohio, a position she has had since 2003. Prior to that, she was an official reporter in Meadville, Pa.

Sarah is a member of NCRA’s Officials Community of Interest Committee, the New Affiliates Task Force, CAPR’s Verification Committee, and the Online Forum Committee.

Sarah is a member of the Ohio Court Reporters Association. In 2008, she received OCRA’s distinguished service award, and recently finished her term as Director with OCRA.

She has made presentations to the county bar association and the Ohio Judicial Conference, as well as during NCRA and OCRA conventions. She has also written articles for Ohio’s Buckeye Record.


Mark Renzi, RPR
Trenton, N.J.



Mark H. Renzi, RPR, is the president and owner of Guy J. Renzi & Associates Court Reporting and Legal Technology located in Trenton, N.J., where he has also worked as a freelance reporter since 1996.

Mark currently is a member of NCRA’s Firm Owner’s Community of Interest.  He is currently director and nominee for vice-president of the Society for the Technological Advancement of Reporting, where he is the co-chair for their recruitment committee. He is a member of Certified Court Reporters Association of New Jersey.

Mark is a 1995 graduate of the Cittone School of Court Reporting in Princeton, N.J., and a 1989 graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Fla., where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Flight Technology/Aviation Management. He has logged many thousands of hours of flight time and is currently an FAA-licensed Airline Transport Pilot and Certified Multi-Engine Instrument Flight Instructor.

Mark enjoys hard work, travel, and time spent with his wife and children.


Nancy C. Varallo, RDR, CRR
Worcester, Mass.



Nancy Varallo, RDR, CRR, is owner of Court Reporting Management Services, LLC, which offers business and office management services to reporters and reporting firms, and All New England Reporting Service, LLC, a non-traditional agency which only handles referral work from other court reporting agencies. Both businesses were opened in 2001. Prior to that, Nancy worked as a freelancer; developed a court reporting program and taught steno classes; and worked as a CART provider.

Nancy was inducted as a Fellow into the Academy of Professional Reporters in 2001.
Most recently, Nancy has served on NCRA’s Total Immersion Task Force, chaired NCRA’s Item Writing Committee, and chaired NCRA’s CART Task Force. She has also been a member of NCRA’s Special Interest Group Task Force (2000-2001) and NCRA’s Strategic Planning Task Force (1999-2000), in addition to other activities.

Nancy has been involved with the Massachusetts Court Reporters Association since 1979, serving on a number of their committees, serving as chief examiner of that state, and holding several board positions including president (1994-1996). In those positions, Nancy developed guidelines and a code of ethics for CART providers working in Massachusetts. In addition, Nancy has written many articles for and served as editor for MCRA’s The Bayside Reporter.
