What are "Friends"

The favorites tab in your "Edit Profile" area offers the introduction of basic social networking functionality to this community. Here you can see your friends. Who is watching you, your favorite posts and favorite sections.

  • What are Friends? Friends you other community members your have added as a friend.  Click on the username hyperlink to be directed to the friends public profile page.  Click the icon in the actions column to send your friend a private messag

 

You can share your friends by selecting the "Share Friends" option.  When you do this other community members will be able to see who your friends are when they view your public profile. 

To add a fellow forum user as a friend, you can either do this from their public profile page (to visit a user's public profile, where ever you see their name click on it) and click the "Add username as a friend" hyperlink.

Alternatively locate a forum post of the member you wish to add as a friend, click the "Favorites" button and select "Add username as a friend" from the drop down list.

Users Watching You:  Shows you who has added you as a friend, if they have enabled the "Share Friends" option.  .  Click on the username hyperlink to be directed to the members public profile page.  Click the icon in the actions column to send the member a private message

 

Favorite Posts:  You also can mark posts as your favorites.   This allows you for example to quickly locate posts that you need for reference

To remove a post from your favorite posts, simply select the check box next to the post and click "Delete".  This will not delete the post from the forums, only from your favorite list.  To add a post as a favorite, when viewing the post click the "Favorite" button.  Click "Add this post as a favorite" from the drop down list.

You can also add a forum as favorite.  This is displayed as shown.
