What in God's name are they thinking?  What a slap in the face.  I thought NCRA was supposed to be HELPING us fight ER.  I'm at a loss for words.  Well, no, I'm not, actually.  The words I'm thinking aren't appropriate for this particular forum and would probably get my post deleted.  What's up with all the past leadership selling out to contracting firms, creating voice writing software, going over to ER?  And advertising that ER is CHEAPER than us?  Don't know about you, but last I've checked, straight typists aren't any cheaper than us.  They're more expensive, in some settings.

Oh, I could spit nails right now, and I would like an answer from someone as to why ER technology is being allowed to have a booth at OUR convention.

O.M.G.  I second the call for an explination -- and a GOOD one -- from NCRA.

I'm not a reporter, but I still say GOOD GRIEF!  Voicewriters are out but this is in?

my thoughts exactly, Liz.  The membership may regret that Chicago vote after this.  I think we'd ALL rather have a human being there.

NCRA, tell me this isn't true!

Is this true?  Is Runfola being allowed a booth at the Dallas Convention?  If they are, I am enraged.  I'm an official in Michigan, and we are losing county after county after county to digital "reporting."  Let me post a quote directly from WavText's site under testimonials,  particularly aimed at officials:

    "Tom Wilson| Court Administrator
“The Judge & I agree, this is the best system ever and the digital reporters are real professionals. Attorneys appreciate the fast, accurate delivery of transcripts in Court. Truly a state-of-the-art system.”

Now, as anyone knows, court administrators would like nothing more than to get rid of us.  Why on God's green earth would NCRA allow this booth?  Personally, I demand an answer from someone on the Board.  This being allowed at our national convention is a huge slap in the face to officials -- well, to all of us.  But counties all across this country are in such a budget crisis that they will move to anything that seemingling saves them money.

This just confirms to me that this profession is dying a slow -- no, a rather fast, painful death.  And I know there are really good firm owners out there who are decent, hard working people and good to their reporters.  So those of you who are, ignore this next comment.  I think some of these hyper greedy firm owners are going to destroy us.  All that stupid video could talk about was money, money, profits, money, profits, money, profits.  And Runfola has the absolute gall to say they are superior to steno reporters?????  SUPERIOR!!  The only way anyone could make a profit at digital reporting is by being a greedy firm owner who cares about NOTHING but his bottom line.  I'm so disgusted by this.

I'm trying to keep an open mind about this, but it's kind of hard to do that.  However, I will go visit the booth and blog about it after I visit the booth.  And I'll only blog about facts....not what I think about it.

This is shocking.  I will be looking for comments from those who attend the convention and see the demo.

Thank you, Candis.  Please let us know what you find out as soon as you can!!

    Joe

p.s.  Candis, would it be possible to merge the other thread into this one somehow?  I know you did that on another thread, and there may have been issues, I don't recall.  But if it's possible, that would be great!

You know, Joe, until I speak with Serge tomorrow about how to merge threads on this new forum platform, I'm not going to try it again.  It was kind of scary what happened this morning (and I have no idea why it happened).  I may not get to speak to him tomorrow (due to his onsite duties), but I'll surely try.
