Here was the third question I could not answer in my seminar this evening, and I wanted to post a response so all can see it (and hopefully benefit from it).
If you press the Windows key (which is located between the control and alt keys on the lower left of your keyboard) and the Pause/Break key (which, on a standard keyboard, should be above "page up" and next to "scroll lock,") this will show System Properties. From there, you can easily access the Device Manager. (To do so, click on the "Hardware" tab, then "Device Manager" button.) This is especially important for those who realtime and need to view COM ports quickly.
That was the part I knew in the seminar.
However, I was asked the question of how to do this on a Sony laptop (because the pause and break key are separate). I just figured it out by playing around with my laptop. On a Sony laptop, you have to press the Windows key, the function key (which is the blue "fn" key to the left of the Windows key), and the Insert/Pause key (which is to the left of the "Delete/Break" key).
Just wanted to pass that along. :-)
