    NCRA Web site usability

If you are attending the Midyear Conference in Boston this weekend, you're invited to contribute your ideas about why and how members use (or don't use) the NCRA Web site. A third-party consultant will be collecting hands-on feedback in the Douglas Room on the mezzanine level of the conference hotel on Saturday only from 7 a.m. until about 4 p.m. It will take about an hour, although it could take more or less depending on your schedule. Besides the satisfaction of helping us with future plans and changes to the site, you will also walk away with a Starbuck's gift card and our thanks.

We will have a limited number of stations set up in the Douglas Room, so if you would like to commit to a specific time on Saturday, you can email me and I will let Jeanne Allert know to expect you then.

     Thank you for your help!

I tried the direct contact method to you with no avail; could not get it to work. The seperate reply box came open, but it was not possible to post a message.

    So:

    1. How does one start a new thread on this new forum?

    2. Is access to the old forum still available? If so, how do I get into the old site?

I've been ill since about 3/04 and lost at least 2 years forum access on the old forum. There was much of interest to me, particularly about writing theories, methods, styles, arbitraries, briefs, phrasing and phrases, etc... and I frankly feel not having access to that stuff, going back years, is a great and tragic loss, to myself and others.

Finally, just to let you know, I sent an email at least a month ago to the memberhip question area of the NCRA; still no reply.

    Hi, Gary.

Sorry that you're having difficulties here, but it sure isn't like the old forum, is it?  A lot harder to maneuver and find things.

To answer your first question, go to the Home page and look on the right hand side  under forum discussion topics, select one and then you'll see the "write new post" button.

There is access to some of the old threads.  How to get to it, I have to do a little searching to find them since that's not an easy task either.

I'll be right back with those instructions.

    Me again, Gary.

I've searched for the last 10 minutes trying to find the archived threads and I can't.  I'm becoming frustrated so I'll try again later unless someone else knows how to get to them and post the instructions here.

    AAARRRGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

The old forum can be accessed from this page http://tinyurl.com/5jarxj  Click the Forum Login button and use your old user name and password.  If you don't see any threads, just go into Options and set your listed threads to the highest number possible.  The search function still works as usual.

    Jeff,

I tried your link and it takes me to the old forum opening page, but I can't read any messages that way.  Can you -- or anyone else?

    Hi, Lillian.

When you use the link above, select Forum Login.  Your old user name and password should grant you access.  Once you're in the the old forum, you should see the old forum thread page with a message something like:

There are no threads updated in last x days

What you need to do is go into "Options," then use the pulldown menu under "Listed Threads" and set it to "Last 365 Days."  Give that a try and see what happens.

I can see that it will be a little hard to use the old forum once all threads are a little older than a year.   Search still works fine with keyword searches.

Anyway, let us know if that helps.  I still search the old forum now and then for info.  It's nice that it's still around.

I've tried to get into the old forum by using my old user's name (tkpwa_er) and password.

The sign-in page will not accept the password....

Is it possible to get a new password for the old forum?
