A little trick I picked up in the last few years was one of "dropping" the second syllable in with the first.
For example, objective. I write object "OB" so if I just bring down the F with it, it becomes "OFB" But I think of it in my mind as OBF because, again, in my mind, I am bringing the F down after the OB...but as you get used to it, you start hitting them all at once with no thinking required!
So, using that, I would write subject SUJ, drop the F in and get subjective SUFJ.
I do the same with respect R-P, respective R-FP
Represent, REPT; representative, REFPT
Progress, PROG; progressive, PROFG
Suggest, SUG; suggestive, SUFG
Collect, CLEKT; collective, CLEFKT
and so on and so forth! It has been helpful for me. I don't remember who taught me that one, but it was probably someone right here on this forum!
