Question about chief examiner at NCRA testing sites

Can someone tell me what you have to do and what your qualifications must be to be a chief examiner at an NCRA testing site?  There's a site in PA that is in desperate need of a chief examiner for Nov. 1 in Nanticoke, PA and I said I'd think about it but need to know more before I make a final committment.

    Lillian,

As a former Chief Examiner, I can tell you that you undoubtedly qualify.  You need to be familiar with the guidelines in the book they send that lists all the rules; good organizational skills; and a few good people to help you administer it.  Most of the candidates are not taking the test for the *first* time, so they will generally be familiar with what they are to do.  Plus, they are always mailed ahead of time information that tells them what is expected of them.

You just need to make sure everybody signs in and follows the rules.  Being Chief Examiner is a lot easier than it used to be.  I hope they already have a site chosen for hosting the test - sometimes that can be a pain.

You also need to find out who is going to reimburse you for site rental - National and state association, or a combination.

    Thanks, Marie, for replying!

As it turns out, I won't have to do it this time.  Another reporter in the area of the school has volunteered.

Lillian, I have a friend up that way and could possibly enlist her help.  I know she's had students from LCCC come to her home captioning office.   And, yes, you are more than qualified, but it's a lot of paperwork, before and after.  And you just have to be patient with people because many are just freaking out on test day.  I'll help out myself if I can, but not sure of my schedule.  Geeked

** Oops, looks like they got it covered.  Good.
