A big THANK YOU to NCRA members from fellow CSRs in California for voting in the change in the bylaws regarding affiliate state associations. We truly appreciate that we now have the opportunity to be considered for affiliate status, thanks to you. Now the NCRA board can evaluate us and see if we are worthy to sit alongside so many dedicated reporters
My colleagues in California want their Deposition Reporters Association to have NCRA recognition. It felt good to vote yes on that.
Thanks, Greg. You're support means a lot to me personally. I can only hope that over 2/3 of the other voting members feel the same way. And I do encourage folks to read

I have a some of experience writing bylaws and a submitting membership bylaws amendment. I'll be happy to find the applicable section and work on language if folks are serious about proposing the change. (But it will have to wait until the end of August. ) What I would also like to see changed is voting at the business meeting done by secret ballot

Thanks, Lillian, for agreeing. I don't expect that it is a consideration for the majority of attorneys, but raises the question(s) of either actual or perceived favoritism. In any event, vying for clients based on, basically, kickbacks is dispicable to me. There is a major difference between "gifts" given in appreciation for business versus

Yes, Janice, you are correct. Any state that can obtain 10 percent of the total NCRA membership would have the same opportunity, if it has multiple associations for consideration. If you're curious, the stats I rec'd last fall from NCRA showed 23,223 members. California is listed with 3,885. The next largest states are Florida with 1,825 and

Dear Colleagues: As many are aware, the Deposition Reporters Association of California is proposing an amendment to the NCRA bylaws to allow more than one affiliate association in states with ten percent of the total NCRA membership. We appreciate the feedback we have received to our prior posts and have compiled them into a Q&A format. We hope

I went to Donna Collins's website and appreciated her comment: "The Nominating Committee's choice, Tami Smith, served as a member of the board from 2004 to 2007. She served the members well, but it's time to allow others to serve." That is a powerful argument to me. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but will mention that

Just food for thought: Perhaps NCRA might consider soliciting volunteers to serve on task forces before making the appointments. I don't see anything on the NCRA website about the Incentive/Gift Giving Task Force. I am sure those on it will do a wonderful job, but there are many familiar names. I did go to Donna Collins's website and appreciated

My questions revolve around prior threads on the Forum: http://ncraonline.org/forum/forums/p/2944/11412.aspx#11412 http://ncraonline.org/forum/forums/p/2944/10681.aspx#10681 http://ncraonline.org/forum/forums/p/2944/10676.aspx#10676 I would like to know what the candidates believe constitutes an open board meeting and when to go into executive session
