  • Re: Five Shocking Paychecks

Yes, Lillian, that's my granddaughter, Raygen. I had two boys and now I finally have a girl. I love being a grandma. We took her to her first circus a couple weeks ago. It's so much fun looking at the world anew thru a child's eyes.

Tricia, along that same line, I recently attended our state convention. I chatted briefly with a voice writer who is having trouble getting certified. I asked her how she got into the profession. She said after her divorce she read a book called Careers for Dummies. Court reporting was a featured profession.

  • Re: Spanish word?

Thank you, Cathryn. Thanks for your very quick reponse. That was the only nagging thing left to check in my appeal I just finished. I spent at least 10 minutes trying to find that on the internet. Nancy

  • Spanish word?

Can anybody tell me if I spelled this right? Thanks A. With a gang specifically being the Southsiders, Sedanos. THE COURT: What was the second word? THE WITNESS: It means the same thing. Southside is Sedanos.

  • Re: what kind of objection?

Diane, when asking questions like this, it's important to include all the info you can. Try to quote exactly what was said and what it sounded like. Another thing to include is maybe where you're located. Cases differ from state to state. My guess is perhaps the objecting atty thought the questioning atty was asking the witness to comment on

  • Brideshead Revisted

We just got back from Brideshead Revisted. It’s like The Enlgish Patient meets The Great Gatsby. My husband and I discussed the movie all the way home, which was a good thing. I had to see it because I love Emma Thompson and English films, but I’m not sure I can recommend it wholeheartedly. If you like beautiful scenery, opulence, and 1940’s era movies

You Brendan Fraser fans would love Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D. What a ride! It even held my 4-year-old granddaughter's attention. The Dark Knight was the best of the Batmans I've seen, but can't get Bale in American Psycho out of my head. We're getting ready to go see the new Indiana Jones movie. I think it's going

  • Re: Anybody read any good books so far this summer?

Thank you all so very much. I have made a list of every recommendation and, God willing, I'll finish them by the summer of next year! Right now I'm reading two -- Deep Survival, which is indeed fascinating -- and Appaloosa. That's the first Parker book I'ver ever read. I'm hooked! Nancy

  • Re: Sound System Recommendations for Courtroom

Thank you, Wynne, Bill and Tricia. Those are all excellent suggestions. The infrared and plugging in for audiosync hadn't occurred to me. I am lucky in Kansas City in that I am in the catbird seat behind the bench on an elevated platform between the judge and the witness. The jury box is on a 90-degree angle to us. I can thank Harry Truman for the

  • Sound System Recommendations for Courtroom

I'm an official working in the Kansas City area. We are in the process of determining our "wish list" for our new sound system that will be installed in our courtroom. I was hoping there is another official out there who has "been there done that" and can give me some tips on the best sound system for the courtroom. Any suggestions
