Increased Skills Testing

At its August 2009 meeting, the Board of Directors approved an additional skills test in 2010. The test will be a trial only to determine if and where sufficient demand from test candidates exists to make an additional test viable. The trial test will be held on August 14, 2010, at all interested testing sites. (Testing sites are selected by each state association. Facility and volunteer availability will determine which testing sites will administer the tests. ) This pilot administration will be for the RPR, CRR, CBC, and CCP skills exams only (note: the CRR, CBC and CCP skills tests are currently the same test). Results from the pilot exam will be reported to the Board at its November 2010 meeting.

Written Knowledge Test Administration Schedule

The Board also discussed the recommendations from the Council of the Academy of Professional Reporters, the Test Advisory Committee, the Realtime Certification Committee, and the Professional Examination regarding the administration of NCRA’s written knowledge tests.  In order to ensure the integrity and quality of the testing program while continuing to meet member demand, the Board voted to continue to offer the RPR and CLVS written knowledge tests four times a year (January, April, July, and October), but to offer the RMR, RDR, CBC, and CCP written knowledge only tests two times a year (April and October). This change takes effect with the January 2010 administration.

Important Certification Notes

  • Each of NCRA's written knowledge tests is based on a job analysis. A job analysis is a blueprint of a certification program and it outlines the skills and knowledge needed to hold that certification.  To access the job analysis for your certification program, please click here and then click on the appropriate certification.
