The Hilton New York, location of NCRA’s upcoming Annual Convention, has been bargaining since May 19 with the New York Hotel and Motel Trades Council toward a new contract. The current contract between the Hilton and hotel workers expires July 31, with the next union vote expected Friday evening, July 28.
It is not known when an agreement will be reached between the Hilton and its unionized workers. If an agreement can’t be reached, other options include extending the current contract to allow for continued negotiations, or a strike.
NCRA has had extensive discussions with hotel management about the possibility of a strike. Hilton management has assured us that they have the plans and people in place to ensure the seamless operation of hotel services if a strike were to occur during the next few weeks.
NCRA will continue to follow the situation closely and provide all appropriate information to convention attendees. Moreover, NCRA will vigorously exercise its rights if the promised levels of service are not met.
