It's a court reporting tradition! The first national speed contest was held in 1909, and the pursuit of excellence continues today. Contestants write and transcribe three five-minute legs – 220 Literary, 230 Legal Opinion and 280 Testimony – and qualify for each with an accuracy rate of 95% or better. The best combined score wins the championship.
